Seven Modular Office by Watson Furniture
We do things differently than our competitors - we build furniture that is more robust. We consider the
user and their environment then challenge the limits for what is expected and accepted as standard
within the industry. All wood composite substrate is locally sourced. In addition, all Watson components
are tested against, and meet, BIFMA (Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association)
standards for desk construction integrity, durability, and component function. In all cases, we exceed
BIFMA standards.

Desk Base - Top support brackets are 12-gauge cold-rolled sheet steel. Crank
handles are die cast zinc alloy. Vertical tube assembly is 2 x 2 inch
and 1½ x 1½ inch (.083 inches) thick steel welded to the top support
and foot. Glides are screwed into metal inserts that are welded
into the foot. The adjustment mechanism utilizes beveled gear lift
assemblies in each leg connected by extruded aluminum shafts. A
12-gauge steel utility beam connects all legs. All metal components
are powder coated. 9 Gauge Steel Bright Wire cable management clips are included with
each base and attach without tools to the Seven Utility Rail. Optional
16-gauge formed sheet metal vertical raceways are magnetically
attached to the 2 x 2 inch vertical leg
Surface - Worksurfaces that are edged with a synthetic material are 1
¼
inches
thick and composed of horiSevenntal grades of laminate and are
bonded to a 1⅛ inch industrial grade particleboard core. Reversible
desks are finished with High Pressure Laminate on both sides while
Single Sided desks are finished with High Pressure Laminate on the
topside and sheet of horiSevenntal grade backing material on the
bottom. Worksurface dimensions are net sized by ½ inch overall
to allow for vertical movement without interference of plugs, wires,
brackets and panels. Desk surfaces are fastened to the legs with steel machine screws
threaded into metal inserts on the leg assembly. Cast zinc bezels
with vacuum plated finish provide compression between the leg
and surface.
Edge - Reversible desks are available in three variations, the 90 profile
highlights the perpendicular geometry of our principal silhouette. The
90 Natural edge is the greenest choice featuring an exposed MDF
core, clear-coated with a waterborne finish. 90 Trim is a 1.5mm thick
synthetic edge for the most compact profile. The 3mm thick synthetic
90 Plus edge provides softer visual weight and a more substantial
ergonomic buffer.
In addition to the edges available on Reversible Desks, Single Sided
desks can also be specified with the N45 or Stretta Profiles which are
both exposed MDF core clear-coated with a waterborne finish.
Seven surface shapes derive from two converging trends
in North American offices – real estate compression,
and transition to flat panel and laptop technologies. Take
advantage of Seven Extended Corners with single surface
design, reduced leg count, and maximum knee clearance. The
curvilinear geometry offers architectural interest to desks and
is designed to minimize waste of raw materials

Features
Watson Seven Office Design
Watson The Company - Watson Furniture is a nationally-distributed US manufacturer of European-inspired office furnishings. Watson offers a broad range of modular, free-standing products that embody the principles of adjustability, space-efficient shapes, and design for emergent technologies. Utilizing materials with high recycled content and low emissions, Watson Desking provides furniture solutions that can help customers meet their own environmental initiatives, including LEED certification.
CONSTRUCTION WASTE MANAGEMENT
- Watson Desking products are protected during shipping with reusable blankets and wood pallets that are either returned to the factory or retained by the delivery company. This diverts construction debris from the project site, and allows the packaging to either be recycled or reused by the manufacturer.
REGIONAL MATERIALS
- Projects within 500 miles from our manufacturing facility in Poulsbo, WA, benefit from our location and use of regionally sourced materials.
RAPIDLY RENEWABLE MATERIALS
- The Watson Studio design modification process can be used to specify core and surface materials meeting the 10 year maximum harvest cycle for this credit.
CERTIFIED WOOD
- All Watson Desking board suppliers participate in the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), as well as provide material certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). LEED projects seeking this credit can specify FSC certified core material through our Studio design process.
INNOVATION IN DESIGN
- Up to three LEED points can be earned for providing exceptional performance above LEED credit standards. Customers using the Watson Studio design modification process can specify products and materials that meet the design intent for this credit area.
REGIONAL PRIORITY CREDITS - LEED 2009 introduced this new area with the intent to highlight geographically important issues. These credits are not new, but rather existing credits within the rating systems and are specific to a project’s location, based on zip code (see usgbc.org). Projects earning any 4 of the 6 specified credits (1 bonus point each) can receive a total maximum of 4 points in this area.
